MySpace Social Networking
MySpace social networking is a phenomenon that was launched in February 1999, though went through several transformations to be what it is today. Although the amateur nature of the HTML formatting used by members has caused some problems, it is one of the top ten visited sites in the world.
MySpace is a social networking site because each member of MySpace can add Friends to their site, who in turn add their own Friends, and so on. You then meet not only your fiends (sorry, friends) but those of their friends and so on down the line until there are complete networks of friends through the entire world wide web.
If you looked hard enough you will eventually find that many people that you have never heard of have the same friends in their list as you have. That is why it is known as a 'network', but while it might seem cool, it has no practical use unless you know how to do it. You won't need to know the practical use of MySpace social networking unless you have a need to contact as many people as possible, and be able to inform them that you have something in common with them.
That will generally be of use to only for marketing needs, when you can use that ploy in order to persuade people to join your mailing list if not to immediately purchase the' product or service that you have to offer.
Social networking has been going on for countless centuries and MySpace social networking is an electronic form of this means of communication. People make friends, and then go on to make friends with their friends' friends and so on. It is exactly the same offline as online, only it is an easier and very much quicker process online. It is such an effective way of building traffic that the MySpace social networking system had twice as much traffic as Google within four years of its beginning. What better type of medium on which to promote products!
So how do you get started using the MySpace social networking system? It is really simple. Just carry out these simple steps:
- Go to myspace.com and click on the 'SignUp' link at the top right hand corner.
- Enter the information requested and the create your profile when prompted.
- Read through all the information, and then invite your friends to join. This is easy to do. You can also search MySpace for any friends or relatives that are already members and ad them all to your 'Friend Space'.
- Start to customize your page and make a few postings and comments. Before you know it you will be a seasoned member and using MySpace social networking techniques as your main way of communicating with your friends - and the friends of your friends friends! It is easier than using a mobile phone.
You can ask anybody to join your MySpace friends list, and you can send music, links and anything you wish to your list of friends: you can even offer them a link to your blog or website.
You can express any views you want to on MySpace except expressions of hate and nudity. Your photographs must not be of an adult nature, but otherwise you are entitle to express any opinion you want. The majority of MySpace social networking users are aged up to 25 years of age, but there are also users in their 80s. It appears that it is not so much the chronological age that determines MySpace users, but the biological age. Many users over 70 are younger in brain and spirit than some 30 year olds, although the minimum registration age is 14 how do you tell?).
People use MySpace for many reasons: some want to publish their recipes, some to state political or religious opinions (but no hate) and other to publish their poetry. Some want their music to be heard (yes you can use MySpace for that), and others for their writing to be read. However the true intended of MySpace is th social networking.
You can check up on your friends friends, and then visit their friends and so on till theoretically you could visit everybody in the world if they all signed up. That is what social networking is all about. Its success is partially due to the fact that teenagers and others can express their views without censorship withing the minimal constraints detailed above, and also the fact that many have used MySpace social networking as a platform to have their amateur music heard – and still do.
An unknown band suddenly has the opportunity of world-wide exposure, and can even contact similar bands anywhere at all. A New York band can discuss music with one from London, UK, or even give advice to a new Chinese band. Their music can be shared through downloads. MySpace has a music player built into the site, and also artist rankings and listener reviews. Music videos are also available, and MySpace users can offer their own videos for display.
Most of the social bookmarking sites can now offer similar facilities, but not organized to the same extant as on MySpace. Well known bands such as the Arctic Monkeys owe a lot to MySpace for their success, and that band reached Number One in the UK Single Charts before the release of their first album due to online downloads. MySpace now has its own record label, and its recording artists are sourced through MySpace members rankings and reviews.
MySpace also has its own TV service: MySpaceTV.com that programs not only content generated by MySpace users, but also screens Sony Monisodes that are short clips of classic TV shows. Members can use MySpaceTV to maintain their own playlists, and the objective of the company is not only to compete with YouTube, but also to overtake it as the primary online social video network. It has come to an arrangement with NBC Universal in its quest to achieve that ambition, and looks like succeeding.
These are the basics of the MySpace social networking system, and if you want to find out how to use the site to make money or promote a product, then the next pages will give you some good advice, and offer some products at prices that I have greatly discounted only for visitors to this website.
The first can actually be accessed now because many people are interested in finding how they can use social networking to make money. The problem with doing so is that it could demean the ethos behind this type of site. However, if you follow the guidance provided in this publication then you will manage to do so without compromising the concept of MySpace.
