How to Create a Blog

Once you know how to create a blog you will find it easy to express your thoughts online and to keep in touch with others without using email. If you feel the need to make your personal thoughts known to others, or want to write regularly about your hobby or interest and allow others to make comments than a blog is just what you are looking for.

But how do you create a blog? How do you set about starting your own blog? This is not as difficult a task as it looks, which is why there are so many of them online. You don’t need any knowledge of how to design websites, or even of search engine optimization, because there are tools available that do all that for you. These will be discussed later. All you need to know is how to use a keyboard to write simple sentences.

You have two options as to how to create a blog. You can either uses free blogging software as offered by sites such as Wordpress or Blogger, or you can host the blog on your own site. Instructions for each of these are provided below.

The benefit of using the hosting service provided by Wordpress and Blogger is that it costs you nothing, and you no work to do other than register and start blogging. The downside is that you do not have anything like to same level of customization on these as you have with a blog on your own site. If you host your own blog, you can use any of the thousands of free blog templates and themes available online, or if you want something even more personal, you can either design your own if you know html, or purchase a ready-made template at from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars.

The two most popular blog tools to add top your own site are Wordpress and Drupal. I have used both and personally prefer Wordpress, but I have one or two friends that go for Drupal because they don’t need to understand HTML to add stuff like Adsense to their blog. I find it easier just to modify the HTML on my sidebars or main body, but I also find Wordpress has more users and much better integration with the large number of plugins available. However, either is good, each is better than running Wordpress or Blogger from the hosted site.

Where Drupal scores is that it is a full content management system, but if you just want a good blog, then I go for Wordpress
